Beekeeping 101 Class

Beekeeping 101 is back, just in time to get started for the 2025 beekeeping season! If you have always wanted to try beekeeping, this is the class to get you started. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 1 from 9 am until about noon at First Nazarene Church, just off 131 in Cadillac.

You’ll learn what you need (and don’t need) for supplies, bee biology, and what to expect in your first year of beekeeping. We’ll talk about buying bees, moving bees to your property, how to care for your bees, and tips for setting your bees up for winter success.

Each participant will get a 20 page handout, as well as exclusive links to recommended resources for continuing your research and referencing along your beekeeping journey. There’s a lot of information out there, and I want to help you cut through the noise and learn what it takes to keep bees in northern Michigan.

Class size is limited to give each participant time for questions. Class length is about 3 hours, but will vary based on participant engagement and the number of questions asked during Q&A.
